OLD TIME FARM FEST
The Moon Lake Threshermen’s Association presents its 38th annual show, formerly called Threshing Bee and now called Old Time Farm Fest, on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 20-21, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the George Sollman farm, five miles south of Turtle Lake on Highway K. Watch for signs.
Admission is $5 per day, which includes a button. Those under 12 are admitted free. Service dogs only. Golf carts, ATVs, etc., must have MLTA-insured and state handicap tag.
This year’s featured tractor is the International Harvester. Next year’s show will highlight the Massey-Harris.
Demonstrations include steam-powered threshing, rock crushing, and saw and flour mills. Other demonstrations will be given on antique baler, antique combine, antique sewing, blacksmithing, butter making, cheese making, clover huller, corn sheller, corn shredder, cream separator, feed grinder, hay press, lathe mill, lumber planing, rug loom, shingle mill, snow fence maker, silo filler and spinning wheel.
Displays include antique tractors, cars, trucks, snowmobiles, gas engines, fire trucks and collections including lamps and lanterns. toys, model railroad and collector shingles.
There is no cost for parking. Breakfast, lunch, fresh corn on the cob and pie available both days. Craft and flea market offered both days.
Saturday’s events include a sawdust pile for kids at 11 a.m., music by TC and the Heuts from noon to 3 p.m., state-sanctioned pedal tractor pull for kids and adults with registration at noon and the pull at 1 p.m., rain or shine, slow tractor race at 2 p.m. with tractor parade to follow.
